Verzet ik me tegen het systeem of blijf ik trouw aan mijn eigen systeem? De vraag: \u2018Wat heeft het voor zin?\u2019 wordt zo nu en dan gesteld of gaat door mijn gedachten. Zo ook in de film \u2018A Hidden Life\u2018. De film, waarbij een Duitse dienstweigeraar uiteindelijk ter dood wordt gebracht, sluit af met het treffende citaat van George Elliot als antwoord op de vraag:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201c\u2026 for the growing good of the world is partly dependent on&nbsp;<strong>unhistoric&nbsp;<\/strong>acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to<strong>&nbsp;the number who lived faithfully a hidden life<\/strong>, and rest in unvisited tombs.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Deze week zag ik twee films waarbij mannen zich verzetten tegen het systeem.
